Inception Confusion

I thought Chris Nolan's Inception was incredible. Clever everything.

This video makes a mockery of the whole thing in under 5 minutes.

Thanks you College Humor.

Travis Barker X Waka Flocka

I did a mix for Mr. Travis Barker of his newest remix titled "Hard in the Paint" by Waka Flocka. We mixed it on a Wednesday, and released it on a Thursday. Insane.

If you're a fan of the hip and hop, and a fan of Travis's drumming then check this one out...if you don't like cursing, maybe pass on it.

Hans Zimmer interview

I'm a fan of the movie score, and www.firstshowing.net, one of the sites I frequent has posted a video interview with the great Hans Zimmer.

Zimmer is one of the Iron Chef's of scoring....he has a black-belt in music in film, he's a Jedi of sorts..you get my point. One of the things I found refreshing about this interview was Zimmer talking about the apprehension a lot of music creators go through. The "I like what I'm doing" VS "Does anybody else like what I'm doing?" battle.

If you're a songwriter of any sort you should take a listen.

Cool Alan Moulder interview

For those of you in the recording business, you should recognize the name Alan Moulder.

He's been a part of some of the coolest records ever...For example, he's worked with My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless", Nine Inch Nails "Downward Spiral", The Jesus and Mary Chain "Reverence",  Smashing Pumpkins "Siamese Dream", The Killers, A Perfect Circle, Bloc Party, Yeah Yeah Yeahs.....it's kind of endless...If you want to see his full discography go to allmusic and enjoy the 4 pages of credits he's got.

All of this brings me to my point. I stumbled upon a very cool interview he did for Triple J. It's a very good listen. He pulls the curtain back on some of his sessions, and is a must listen for any music types that are into recording, mixing or producing.

Off you go.

Motion City Soundtrack single is out today!

Some fruits of labor are out today!

"Disappear", the first song from the sessions that MCS did with Mark, myself, and Jordan is out today! It is loud and it rocks...for all you synth lovers (me included), don't you worry...plenty of that on the CD.

I remember recording this vocal and being blown away at Justin's ability to slay you with his voice. It was one of those times where you push the record button and get the hell out of the way.

Awesome time, awesome dudes, awesome record.

A very cool music making site

For those of you that love old school drum machines, and are somewhat knowledgeable of signal flow, I have a site for you. The site is called Hobnox, and they have a section where you can essentially tie together virtual drum machines with virtual guitar pedals, and go to town. In order to save your creations you need to signup for their site, which is free. I super-duper highly recommend it if you enjoy programming music and have time on your hands.

More Pirating Music Insanity

There seems to be a pretty huge disconnect between the crime and the penalty regarding illegally downloading songs. This article on Gizmodo further highlights other crimes and their fines, and compares them to pirating music.

Bugs vs. Bus

Here's a photo from Saskatoon of the front of the bus. Let this serve as a lesson that if you are a bug, A) you won't win a fight against a bus, and B) you should not be on the highway...ever.
